At Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness, we are excited and proud to announce the launch of our Hot Springs Wellness Day Treatment Program for adults, now operating at the City of Hot Springs Community Resource Center. This marks an important step forward in our mission to provide accessible, compassionate, and comprehensive care to the adults we serve.
Our new daytime program is thoughtfully designed to support the whole person by addressing both immediate needs and long-term stability. Participants in the program will have access to a wide range of services, including:
Housing assistance
Employment and workforce resources
Mental health services
Medication management
Case management
Additional wellness and support services
By bringing these resources together in one supportive environment, we aim to empower adults to build healthier, more stable lives and strengthen their connection to the community.
We were honored to celebrate this milestone alongside board members, ambassadors, and staff from OBHAW, the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Hot Springs Community Resource Center. Their presence reflects a shared commitment to expanding meaningful public services and improving outcomes for individuals and families in Hot Springs.
We are deeply grateful for the partnerships that allow us to continue growing our impact. The Hot Springs Wellness Day Treatment Program represents hope, progress, and our ongoing dedication to serving our community with care, dignity, and purpose.
We look forward to the positive change this program will bring and to continuing our work together toward a healthier future for all.

Regular self-check-ins are essential for maintaining mental wellness. They offer numerous benefits, including:
Self-Awareness: Understanding your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
Stress Management: Identifying and addressing stressors early.
Decision Making: Making informed and balanced choices.
Mental Health: Promoting better mental health by addressing negative feelings.
Goal Setting: Reflecting on progress and adjusting goals.
Empathy and Relationships: Improving empathy and enhancing relationships.
Finding a balance that works for you is key. Regular self-check-ins help you stay grounded and proactive in managing your overall wellness.
Daily Check-Ins: Brief daily check-ins can help with emotional awareness and thoughts. This can be as simple as taking a few minutes in the morning or evening to reflect on your day.
Weekly Check-Ins: A more in-depth weekly check-in allows you to review your progress toward goals, assess stress levels, and make any necessary adjustments.
Monthly Check-Ins: Monthly check-ins are useful for evaluating long-term goals and overall well-being. This is a good time to reflect on significant changes or achievements.
As Needed: Sometimes, you might need to check in with yourself more frequently during stressful periods or when facing major decisions. Listen to your body and mind, and adjust the frequency as needed.
An example of a daily check-in may be:
What am I grateful for?
What are my needs today?
How am I feeling?
How am I treating myself?
What do I want to accomplish today?
Things to remember:
Make time for yourself
It’s okay to have unproductive days.
You deserve love, care, and support.
The goodness you see in others is also within you.
It’s okay to have days where the only thing you do is survive.
Believe in yourself, your journey, and a brighter tomorrow.
Accept and embrace your feelings instead of ignoring or hiding them.
Listen to your emotions and what they are trying to tell you.
I want to connect better with my kid, but the usual discipline methods just lead to more frustration. How can I encourage good behavior without constant battles?
Signed, Tired of the Struggle

Dear Tired of the Struggle,
I hear you! Yelling, time-outs, and taking things away often just make things worse. But here’s the good news—focusing on what kids do right instead of what they do wrong can totally change the game.
Why Positive Reinforcement Works:
🚀 Punishments can make kids shut down (or push back even harder). ✨ Catching them doing something good builds confidence and encourages more of it. 💡 Feeling seen and appreciated makes kids more likely to listen.
Simple Swaps That Work:
✅ Instead of “Stop whining!” try “Thanks for using your calm voice!” 🤝 Swap “Clean your room or no TV!” with “When your room is tidy, we can watch together!” 🎉 Celebrate small wins—stickers, high-fives, extra playtime all go a long way!
Making kids feel good about good choices helps everyone win. Try it out and see how it changes things! Have you tried this? Drop your best tips in the comments! 💬💖

Anxiety is a natural response to stress. It’s that feeling of worry, nervousness, or fear you might get before a test, when meeting new people, or in unfamiliar situations. This type of anxiety can be helpful—it keeps us alert and helps us prepare.
But for some people, anxiety doesn’t go away, even when there’s no clear reason to feel anxious. This can affect daily life. People might feel restless, have a hard time sleeping, or notice physical symptoms like a fast heartbeat, shortness of breath, or upset stomach. It can also lead to racing thoughts or feeling “on edge” much of the time.
Understanding anxiety is the first step toward managing it. You’re not alone, and support is available.
There are different types of anxiety, like generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety. Each one has its own signs, but they all involve excessive worry or fear that’s hard to control.
Managing anxiety takes time, but it’s possible. Techniques like deep breathing, regular exercise, maintaining a routine, and talking to a trusted person can help. Many people also find counseling helpful to explore the root of their anxiety and learn practical coping tools.
If anxiety is interfering with your life, know that you’re not alone. Understanding anxiety is the first step toward managing it. Support is available, and healing is possible.
