Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) It is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.

EMDR therapy helps children and adults of all ages. Our therapists use EMDR with a wide range of challenges, including, but not limited to, sexual assault, PTSD, pain, panic attacks, violence and abuse. Most people gain remarkable, life-changing success in 12 to 20 sessions.

OBHAW currently has three licensed counselors who have gone through the intensive EMDR training and are currently in the process of being certified in EMDR treatment.

School-Based Counseling

School-based counseling is an integrated approach to mental health intervention that focuses on both school and family.

School-based counseling is an integrated approach in order to help children overcome personal problems so they can succeed at school. This service enables children to receive counseling directly in the school they attend. Referrals may come from the school counselor, principals, teachers or other administrators. Through an individualized treatment plan created with you and your treatment team, we can help with school problems, conflicts with peers, problems following directions, poor attention span, anxiety, irritability, anger management, depression, disruptive behaviors, childhood trauma and /or grief and loss.

Evidenced Based Practices: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy – mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc. Additionally, therapists may be trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches such as Parenting, Sand Tray, Play Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Reality Based Therapy, LGBTQ issues, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, and more.

Duration: Treatment length will depend on the client and family’s individual need. This is set during treatment planning and reviewed every 3 to 6 months by the client and/or family with the primary therapist.

Children Learning and Implementing Mindful Behaviors
4-11 years of age

The CLIMB program is a year-round intensive, therapeutic outpatient-counseling program provided during the day that focuses on emotional and behavioral regulation, family support and academic growth. This program is for children who may be struggling emotionally or behaviorally in their current childcare environment or in school. Staff is trained in Conscious Discipline, which is an evidence-based treatment intervention that teaches children the social, emotional, and communication skills necessary to manage themselves. Each child is assigned a mental health professional and case manager that will work with them daily on their personalized treatment goals. The length of treatment can be 6 months to one year or longer depending on the complexity of the case.

Evidence Based Practices: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Conscious Discipline techniques, Functional Family Therapy, Psycho-education. Additionally, therapists may be trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches such as Parenting, anger management, interpersonal skills training, social skills training, Gestalt, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy.

Duration: 9 months to 1 year, although some clients benefit from more time depending on severity of symptoms and complexity of case.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Child-Parent Psychotherapy

CPP is an intervention model for children ages 0-5 who have experienced at least one traumatic event.

If your child has experienced a traumatic event, and/or are experiencing mental health, attachment, and/or behavioral problems, including post-traumatic stress disorders.

Therapeutic sessions include the child and parent, or primary caregiver and are provided by a therapist who is specially trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy.

Treatment involved weekly hour-long sessions. Length of treatment can vary depending on the complexity of treatment

Our providers will work with you to find the right medication to help relieve the symptoms that are holding your back. They will discuss the purpose of the medication and its side-effects with you to make sure that you feel fully informed.
